TSB Meeting Notes 3/14/16
Members & Guests Present: Laura Wing, Bill Boles, Bill Kenyon, Donna Kenyon, Holly Stevens, Brad Messersmith, Elaine Tammi, Bob DeRoeck, Christine Gately, Laura, Wing
LW Opens the meeting by introducing herself and asking those present to introduce themselves and to state their concerns.
The overwhelming response is that “We need signage to keep people off the dunes”.
PG Reads a Sandwich Enterprise article.
Suggestion: The town should hand out “Stay Off The Dunes” flyers to everyone who gets a beach sticker.
CG suggests giving them to students to take home.
HS We need to protect the dunes – The town needs to take action.
CG We need to educate our residents as well as visitors.
CG Action should be on should be taken by 4/1.
HG: The town has wasted 1.5 months as there has been no protection effort so far.
BK: Make use of existing post, add new signs.
BB Put up fencing to keep people on the path to the beach.
BD Use negative persuasion like Lyme tick warnings, poison ivy warning.
CG There should be signage and fines in place by the end of the month.
CG The Hemisphere beach access path need to be re-opened as it is overgrown.
BD:
1, We need to get the rest of the sand to complete the beach and dune restoration.
       2, There needs to be a plan in place for periodic sand replenishment.
       3, The fire restriction needs to be enforced.
LW The Old Harbor Inlet needs to be restored.
LW the town should be asking the Ma and US Fisheries and Wildlife agencies what they would like to see and would approve.
LW We need to ask the selectmen to hold a public forum to highlight the results of the renourishment project and future plans.
BD – We should ask the selectmen to report on the project.
Ideally the forum should be before the May 4th election.
ET – Read her letter to Doug Lapp and her response.
LW reports that so far that she, Elaine Tammi, Chris Gately, &Bill Boles will be our directors.
Swapping to the Alliance to Preserve Sandwich Beaches is still on the table.

A Coastal Resource Manager should be the main topic of our next meeting.
                Get a grant to hire one. Or use CSM monies to hire one, then that person seeks his own future funding.
Motion: Accept minutes for our last meeting: Accepted unanimously.
Meeting closes 8:10 PM.
